1 Kingman seedless watermelon
2 bottles Folktale Sangiovese Estate Rosé or other good Monterey County rosé
¼ cup super-fine sugar
1 cup light rum
2 cups white grape juice
28 oz carbonated water, chilled
Lemon-lime soda to sweeten to taste (optional)
1Cut the watermelon in half and then into quarters.
2Remove rind and cut melon into small cubes.
3In a large pitcher or bowl, place the watermelon and smash slightly, do not pulverize.
4Slice one orange and one lemon into ¼ inch rounds, place with watermelon. Squeeze the remaining orange and lemon over the watermelon.
5Add the sugar, wine, rum, and grape juice. Stir to dissolve sugar; chill for 2 hours.
6Just before serving, divide mixture into 2 pitchers.
7Slowly add chilled carbonated water.
8You can use lemon-lime soda to add a sweeter finish to this refreshing, adult punch!
